Education in Northumberland

Out of the 186 schools operating within Northumberland currently, 124 are state sponsored primary schools, 46 are state sponsored secondary schools- whilst just 6 are independent establishments. Around half of all school children educated in the region head off to University, though only 1% of these are awarded regular places at Oxford or Cambridge. For general Russell Group Universities however, the figure is slightly more impressive 11%.
