Maths is important

Many degrees now require that you have a good maths grade when you apply for a place on the course. The usual demand is that you have a C or higher at GCSE level. Maths is a basic skill which is required for most research projects, even for courses in which maths does not play a major part. If there is any research to be done where you have to interview, survey or take observations in the community or from a population, statistical analysis will be needed. Even those who take language based degrees will be expected to have at least basic maths knowledge. This knowledge might not be directly used during your course, but the raw skills can be used to identify a problem and then use a logical way to solve it. Using this logical problem solving ability will enable your essays and projects to be completed to your best ability, giving you a better chance of degree success.
