Half term trips and tips

It’s half term, which could mean a lovely week with the kids at home! Or ... you could be in need of some entertainment inspiration. Here’s a selection of days out that are sure to feed your child’s imagination whilst enhancing their thirst for learning.

1.The Science Museum, London

A classic for a reason, London’s Science Museum is bursting with educational entertainments. Your child can wonder at the 3D movie screenings, or check out the immersive exhibition that recreates the famous particle physics laboratory CERN.

2. HMS Belfast, London

A trip to the gargantuan HMS Belfast is a great way to make maths relevant for your child. This exciting trip will show your child how maths can help crack codes. Your child is sure to be entertained as they discover the decks and play the spy.

3. Centre for Life, Newcastle

Your child can get up close to an array of exhibitions and activities at this scientific emporium. Featuring the largest planetarium in the north, the Centre for Life also has a fire and ice exhibition this half term sure to excite and engage even the most reluctant scientist.

4.The Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester

This half term the Museum of Science and Industry is giving kids the opportunity to explore what life would be like in the Victorian era in Manchester (including the sewage network!). For a breezier view check out the Air and Space Gallery showcasing a wealth of aircraft.

5. Making it! Discovery Centre, Nottingham

Your child can discover the marvels of technology by exploring 3D computer aided design. They can also try their hand at running an assembly line or star on the front page of a newspaper (which they can print out and take home).

6. Maths Doctor

Give your kids a kick start for the second half of term and keep them entertained at home with fun, online maths lessons from Maths Doctor.
