Prize draw terms & conditions of entry

  1. The promoter of this prize draw is Maths Doctor, a division of Macmillan Publishers Limited, whose registered office is at Brunel Road, Houndmills, Basingstoke, Hants, RG21. These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern the prize draw.
  2. These Terms are deemed to incorporate all instructions of how to take part made public by Maths Doctor (for example in magazine advertisements). No purchase is necessary. If you are unsure of how to enter, please contact us.
  3. To be eligible to enter the prize draw, you must be UK resident and have access to an internet-based computer. Prize draw entrants must email their entry to by midnight BST on Friday 14 March 2014 during the prize draw period starting on Saturday 8 March 2014 and ending on Friday 14 March 2014. By entering into this prize draw you agree to the Terms stated herein and acknowledge that failure to comply with them may result in disqualification.
  4. The eligibility of any entrant is at the sole discretion of Maths Doctor. Employees, families or agents of Maths Doctor, Macmillan Publishers Ltd or any of their associated companies are not eligible to enter the prize draw. Only one entry per person is permitted.
  5. There will be four (4) prizes each consisting of a course of four live, one-hour, one-to-one online maths tutorial lessons with a professional Maths Doctor tutor, plus a free graphics tablet. Each prize is valued at approximately £120. All costs and liabilities associated with the usage of the prize (including without limitation data cards, data plans and purchases) are the sole responsibility of the winner.
  6. No cash alternatives will be provided and the prizes are not transferable.
  7. Maths Doctor may at its sole discretion (though we will endeavour to avoid unnecessary disappointment) substitute any prize for a prize of a similar nature and/or comparable value.
  8. Multiple or incomplete entries will be deemed to be invalid. By entering this free prize draw you confirm to Maths Doctor that all information submitted by you is correct and that you have complied fully with these Terms. Maths Doctor reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants. Automated entries and entries via third parties or agents will be invalid. Entries that do not comply with these Terms (including those containing any false information) will be invalid.
  9. The prize draw closes at midnight BST on 14 March 2014. The winners of the prize draw will be the first names drawn at random from the valid and correct entries received.
  10. The winners will be notified by Maths Doctor within one (1) week of the draw by telephone (where this information is provided by the winners in their entry form) and/or email.
  11. The winners' first name and town of residence may be published in any publicity material that Maths Doctor uses. The names of the winners will (subject to applicable data protection and privacy laws) be available after Monday 10th April 2014 by sending a self-addressed envelope to: Rahim Hirji, Maths Doctor, 4 Crinan Street, London, N1 9XW, UK. If you are the winner, please note that we may ask you to take part in further reasonable publicity (you will of course have the right to decline).
  12. If a prize is declined, or if the prize-winner cannot reasonably be contacted from the details supplied within one (1) month of the draw, a supplementary winner may be drawn at Maths Doctor’s discretion and the supplementary winner will be notified by email or phone. The original entry that was drawn will then be forfeited.
  13. Prizes must be redeemed i.e. the tutorial courses must be arranged and delivered before 31 June 2014.
  14. Any ruling on matters throughout the prize draw made by Maths Doctor is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. Maths Doctor and its agents and subcontractors cannot accept responsibility for entries lost or delayed in submission. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt. Maths Doctor may at its sole discretion disqualify any entrant found to be tampering with the entry process or operation of the website, or to be acting in any manner deemed to be disruptive to the promotion.
  16. So far as is permitted by English law, Maths Doctor hereby excludes all liability for any loss, damage, cost and expense, whether direct or indirect, howsoever caused in connection with the prize draw or any aspect of the prize.
  17. These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with English law and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  18. Data submitted by entrants shall be treated in accordance with Maths Doctor's Privacy Policy below, which forms part of these Terms.
