Why Maths Doctor

Education in Milton Keynes

Worked example for the volume of a trapezoid

Over one quarter of Milton Keynes’ 88 state funded primary schools are oversubscribed with students they are unable to accommodate. Some 230 primary appeals are lodged each year as a result of this, and current stats suggest that 493 primary-aged children are occupying places that shouldn’t be. As for secondary schools, overpopulation is less of a problem, but little over half of all students eventually attend university. Maths is a trickier subject than most, so a little help in this area could help to boost your child's grades and confidence.

Schooling in Milton Keynes is an almost unique system. Like most of England and Wales Milton Keynes has the comprehensive system, and results are above the national average. But the surrounding Education Authority of Buckinghamshire still ranks their students based on the results of the 11 plus exams and places students in Secondary Modern and Grammar schools. Some of the Grammar schools in Buckingham and Aylesbury will take on a limited number of students from Milton Keynes. However access to these schools requires students to be working at a higher level than the average student, meaning that any weakness, especially in a subject as important as Maths, must be addressed.
