Why Maths Doctor

Education in Sidcup

An urban district of Bexley, Sidcup lies around 11 miles to the east of Charing Cross in central London and is home to a varied community of professionals and families. Schooling in Bexley, whilst far from being the worst case found in suburban London, is known to be rather cramped. The areas state funded institutions in particular are rather open to over-subscription- and it is currently estimated that between 30% and 40% of all such schools serving Sidcup are over-populated with excess students.

Maths is important

This is a common cry amongst school kids, especially when it gets to the icky stuff that forms part of the GCSE curriculum. There has long been a campaign running that maths should be split into 2 categories; basic for everyday life an advanced for those looking to make a career in a maths based industry, accountancy for example. Nevertheless the present system remains and even if you can't get a handle on the tougher stuff, you should have conquered the basics by this point. What many kids don't realise is that almost any job involves maths in some way or another. Even the lower paid jobs such as bar staff or shop assistants have to deal with cash so their numeracy must be up to scratch. Next time your kid complains about doing their maths homework as they don't want to be a mathematician, remind them of the fact that maths is needed for almost every job these days.
