What is particularly striking, is that these maths jobs are all incredibly important and they form the foundation of our societies. It seems that when it comes to making the key decisions, it is much better to rely on the logic of numbers than the unpredictability of opinions, ideas and guesswork. Ultimately then, the prominence of maths comes from the authority of numbers. No one can question that 1+1 =2!
