Maths is important

Everyone can instantly think of famous actors, famous actresses, even famous IT guys, but ask anyone to name some famous mathematicians and you will get a lot of furrowed eyebrows. One reason is that the vast majority of mathematicians died before we were born and their ground breaking work took place centuries, if not millennia ago. It is pretty amazing when you think that the work these men did is still prevalent today in the 21st century. Take Sir Isaac Newton for instance, he is credited with the discovery of gravity and famous for his Three Laws of Motion. Also regarded as the Father of Calculus, Isaac Newton's fascination with geometry led to the subject which it still taught today. Going even further back in time we find Euclids who founded the great school of Mathematics in Alexandria in around 210 BC. Euclids was the first person to determine prime numbers, and his theories are still found in modern maths curricula.
